Graphic Novel, Book Signing, Book Release, Oh My!

Hey Bloggies! Don't ask me where I got that name, it just sounded good!

Anyway, if you haven't already seen sneak peeks of the Vampire Academy: The Graphic Novel #1, expected to be released August 23, 2011, you can find it by clicking on the link there but first, please take a look at the pic below.

This is the cover of the graphic novel and I made it nice and big because I want to know what you think of Rose, Lissa and Dmitri...because I'm about to tell you what I think!

Rose and Lissa? One word: plain. Nothing about them excites me nor does anything about them stand out. They're boring. I look at Rose and I'm not intimidated like everyone who meets her, is. Lissa doesn't look nearly as beautiful as I was led to believe, a royal beauty, so to speak. And Dmitri? In this picture, for me, he is all wrong. Yes, Dmitri is tall. Yes, Dmitri is strong. But neither feature did I imagine so...prominent. Was it just me? Anyway, please let me know what YOU guys think of our favorite trio in color!

So what are you guys doing next Tuesday? That's nice. Who me? Oh, I'll be at a book signing with a little known author by the name of Cassandra Clare! Next Tuesday, May 3, 2011 from 6:00-8:00pm, Cassandra Clare will be signing at the Books of Wonder in Manhattan, NYC. She will be joined by Holly Black and debut author Lauren DeStefano. I hope to see you there!

Released Today!

I must have been the first person to purchase this book today at my local Borders, because they weren't even on the shelf yet! Which meant the guy had to go in the back to retrieve my copy, which also means I did not get to choose my own copy. I am very picky with the copy I take home. It has to be perfect. If I was able to download pictures to my computer I would show you how the cover is not quite folded right and how it sticks out on the top. I will attempt to fix it but it will probably bug me for the rest of eternity!

I have to say, I'm already disappointed with this book because it's thinner than the first one. Boo. Click the link to find out why Christopher Farnsworths' vampires don't sparkle!

Home Sweet Home!

Hello again!!! I have missed you guys very much. My plane landed over a week ago but my blog is my home, too! But do you ever feel like blogging, yet at the same time, you really don't feel like it? Well, that was how I was feeling after my trip to Disney (which I will share a few pics soon). While I took a break from the blogging, I did start some reading. If you've been keeping track, it is taking me a while to finish The Misfit of Supernatural High, but I can assure you it is not due to any fault with the book. I like what I've read and there's still so much more to come, I can't wait to see the end!

Speaking of the end, do you ever peek at the last page of a new book just to see the last few words? Maybe to get a feel for either a happy ending or a sad one? You don't read enough to give away what happens but enough to satisfy your curiosity - or tease it! I think I do that with every new book (when I say new, I mean not a sequel to anything, a new story) and I think I do it sometimes without even realizing. Almost out of habit. I don't know why. I guess the way I see it is - hey, by the time I  read the whole book and get to the end, I'll have forgotten what I peeked at and it won't matter. So, if you would indulge my curiosity, take the poll in the top left corner to let me know if any of you do the same or if I'm the only one! Thanks!

I also picked up two great books during a recent trip to Borders, allow me to share:

Two completely different covers! One dark, one light. The "girl next door" and the "girl from up the street"!! The look in both of their eyes are full of secrets. I love it!

I also have three more books on the way, courtesy of my loving special someone:

The last one, a little strange, I know. Not what is usually on the TBR pile, however, it was inspired by the movie Creation, a story about Charles Darwin as he mourns over the death of his daughter while struggling with his beliefs and those of his wife, if he should even write the book that changed the world. It was terribly sad and completely captivating.

And for a quirky ending; I'm thinking about naming my Nook. I feel like the two of us a getting closer and I think it should have a name. Initially, I thought I would give it a girls name, but I'm open to it being a boy :) Suggestions?

One Big Week!!

This week is probably the most exciting week for me in a very long time! My amazing daughter, Sophia (age 3), is starting head start tomorrow! Yes, it is late in the year but better late than never and it will prepare her for next year. Anyway...she is super excited to make new friends, learn, make arts & crafts and to just be a big girl! I'm so proud of her! The funny part is that she's been begging to ride the school bus since she learned what is was used for, around age 1 1/2, yet when the reality hit her, she explained that she felt riding on the school bus would be too dangerous and that I should kindly escort her to and from school - the way my mother did for me through all my school years! When you have a sweet little girl, that knows how to use her baby voice to get what she wants, it's hard to say no!

Then, later this week, I'll be taking said amazing daughter to somewhere really special, for the first time! Can you guess where?

That's right. Disney World!!! She is finally at the right age to experience the joys of Disney! She loves the princesses, Toy Story, dressing up and playing make-believe! We'll also be taking the girls (our cousin just turned 3 today - Happy Birthday Gianna!) to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique to get hair, makeup and nails done, while dressed like their favorite princesses! A great time will be had by all!

With all that being said, This week will likely be a slow blogging week for me. School requires me to wake up at 6:30 a.m. which is just, I mean, c'mon, that's just absurd. I will try to post anything that comes up between now and then, otherwise, look out for my post about our Disney trip - which won't really be a review because, well, Disney World is awesome. It will be my daughters first time on a plane, so wish me luck with that!

See you soon!
