Long time no blog! Okay, so it's been a little while since I've been able to post. My laptop died on me and so I am now awaiting a new one from my most amazing special someone! I will be up and running again next week, so be sure to come back for book news, cover reveals and more!

Twilight: The Graphic Novel Volume 2

I don't know about any of you guys, but I was not expecting this to be the next cover for Volume 2, although now I feel like I should have expected it. Either way, I absolutely LOVE it!!

It's expected publication date is October 11, 2011 by Yen Press.

1. Which book has been on your shelves the longest?

Definitely my crime books, both fiction and non-fiction. Before I really got into young-adult, I read a lot of mystery/crime books and true crime, serial killers in particular. May sound strange, but I guess it was for the same reasons that I watch CSI and all those shows. They're interesting.  

 

2. What is your current read, your last read and the book you'll read next?

I just finished Blood Lite II: Overbite by multiple authors - short stories. I have a strange way of picking my next read. Sometimes I know. When I don't, I stare. I just stare at my bookcases and contemplate every unread book, feel them out, and the one I keep going back to is the one. Lately I've been looking at Blessed by Cynthia Leitich Smith. 

3. What book did everyone like and you hated?

The Host by Stephenie Meyer. Of course I wanted to like whatever book the author of Twilight wrote but I just couldn't get into it. I didn't even finish it. My intention is to make another attempt if it is to become a movie one day. If not, I probably won't pick it back up any time soon.

4. Which book do you keep telling yourself you'll read, but you probably won't?

Dracula. I have it because I'd like to experience the original for myself and be able to make comparisons and know when a Stoker reference is being made. However, I think the time for this book will be when I have run out of other books to read first. Which might take a while.

5. Which book are you saving for "retirement?" 
Lucy by Laurence Gonzales. I'm intrigued enough that I want to read it but I'm in no rush to do so.

6. Last page: read it first or wait till the end? 

I can usually resist the temptation to peek at the end but sometimes I give in, just a little. Never enough to spoil anything, just enough to get a name or last words.

7. Acknowledgments: waste of ink and paper or interesting aside?

I like to read acknowledgments of my favorite authors, to get a glimpse into their lives and the process they went through for that book. Sometimes they get help in unexpected areas which make for interesting shout-outs. 

8. Which book character would you switch places with?

Laurel of Aprilynne Pike's Spells. She's a faerie that grows a giant flower out of her back once a year and has special abilities. Plus this super great guy is madly in love with her. She practically lives between the human world and the faerie world. Best of both. 

9. Do you have a book that reminds you of something specific in your life (a person, a place, a time)?

The Collected Poems of Sara Teasdale. It reminds me of a friend I had in the fourth grade. She gave me this book and it sparked my love of poetry. I started writing my own. If she never gave me that book, I wonder who I'd be.

10. Name a book you acquired in some interesting way.

Wicked Nights by Nina Bangs. My bestie and I were in the dollar store, tossing through books in a bin when she picked one up and laughed at its corny title and told me to "look at this one". I said, "I need that one!" It was part of a series I only had one other book to. Lucky find!

11. Have you ever given away a book for a special reason to a special person?

I wish I could say yes. I only buy people books I know they want - I'm not gonna spend good book money on something they may or may not read! And I do NOT give away my books. Uh-uh.

12. Which book has been with you to the most places?
I don't like to travel with my books for fear that they will get ruined. However, I did take Liar by Justine Larbalestier to Aruba with me, thinking I'd clock in some good book-on-the-beach time. I did not. And I just slept on the plane.

13. Any "required reading" you hated in high school that wasn't so bad ten years later? 

I haven't re-read anything from high school but I don't remember hating any of it. I particularly enjoyed Of Mice and Men and To Kill A Mocking Bird. 

14. What is the strangest item you've ever found in a book?

Nothing interesting. Probably just old bookmarks.

15. Used or brand new?
My YA books have to be new. I'm picky with my covers. I like them to be in good condition. I also love really old books. The look, the smell, the sound of crinkly pages.

16. Stephen King: Literary genius or opiate of the masses?

I've never read a Stephen King novel and his movies usually scare the crap out of me.

17. Have you ever seen a movie you liked better than the book?

There have only been four (three of them Twilight books) and all the books were better.

18. Have you ever read a book that's made you hungry, cookbooks being excluded from this question?

I can't think of one in particular but any time a character mentions eating a piece of chocolate or having steak and potatoes for dinner, my mouth waters.

19. Who is the person whose book advice you'll always take?

My bestie. No one else reads what I read and it's just one more thing we have in common. If she says a book is good, it's good.

One Big Week!!

This week is probably the most exciting week for me in a very long time! My amazing daughter, Sophia (age 3), is starting head start tomorrow! Yes, it is late in the year but better late than never and it will prepare her for next year. Anyway...she is super excited to make new friends, learn, make arts & crafts and to just be a big girl! I'm so proud of her! The funny part is that she's been begging to ride the school bus since she learned what is was used for, around age 1 1/2, yet when the reality hit her, she explained that she felt riding on the school bus would be too dangerous and that I should kindly escort her to and from school - the way my mother did for me through all my school years! When you have a sweet little girl, that knows how to use her baby voice to get what she wants, it's hard to say no!

Then, later this week, I'll be taking said amazing daughter to somewhere really special, for the first time! Can you guess where?

That's right. Disney World!!! She is finally at the right age to experience the joys of Disney! She loves the princesses, Toy Story, dressing up and playing make-believe! We'll also be taking the girls (our cousin just turned 3 today - Happy Birthday Gianna!) to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique to get hair, makeup and nails done, while dressed like their favorite princesses! A great time will be had by all!

With all that being said, This week will likely be a slow blogging week for me. School requires me to wake up at 6:30 a.m. which is just, I mean, c'mon, that's just absurd. I will try to post anything that comes up between now and then, otherwise, look out for my post about our Disney trip - which won't really be a review because, well, Disney World is awesome. It will be my daughters first time on a plane, so wish me luck with that!

 YAY! 100 Followers!

Thank you to all my wonderful long-time followers and my new followers for reading my ramblings, giving your feedback and allowing me to share these amazing books with you! And the little girl up there? Yeah, that's pretty much what I look like. My pigtails are much better otherwise the resemblance is uncanny!

I wish I could do a giveaway for you guys to show my appreciation; however I'd still like to share some book news in hopes of keeping everyone on the same page (hehe, get it?) because there is nothing I hate more than the thought of amazing books that I might be missing out on!

The cover for Hades, the sequel to Halo by Alexandra Adornetto has been revealed! It is set to be released August 30, 2011!

Whoa, right? I haven't read Halo yet, but if these covers say anything about the story it encompasses, it HAS to be good!!

This is a book I found thanks to Bella at Cheezyfeet Books. 

DIE FOR ME is the first of three books about Kate, a sixteen-year-old American who moves to Paris after the death of her parents. It introduces a new version of the undead with revenants, beings who are fated to sacrifice themselves over and over again to save others’ lives. Kate finds herself falling for Vincent, who she discovers is not the typical French teenager he appears: he is something else entirely.

DIE FOR ME presents a new supernatural mythology presented in a city where dreams are sometimes the same as reality. 

Not telling your audience what type of supernatural they're in store for is downright torture! Yet great way to pull us in! I really like the sound of this book.

By Title? By Genre? By Author?

If you read about my recent trip to Borders, my favorite place in the whole-wide world, I picked up Firelight by Sophie Jordan. This book has sparked something major. I have arranged my books in order of paranormal creature, so to speak. First I have my vampire books, then Shadowhunters, angels, werewolves, fairies/pixies, witches/Casters, then it goes into various other characters like those who hear voices or ones that guide the dead to the afterlife, crazy girl type, superhero type, ghosts and so on. Anyway, the point is that I do not have a section, for dragons. This has revived an issue I sort of put a pin in to save it for later - changing the order of my books.

I'm dying to know how everyone else organizes their bookcases. I used to arrange the books to be more appealing to the eye, aesthetically pleasing, disregarding any order as long as it looked cool on the shelf! Is anyone else as anal about this as I am?? When I sit across from them I ponder the all the different possibilities, all the ways I could shift and play with them!

So again, is it by author, by size, color or genre?

Okay Pretty Little Liars fans (that have read the books), I need your help!! I haven't read them - though I would love to - but I am obsessed with the show! I need to know: Out of eight books, am I right, do you ever find out who A is, or are you trying to figure it out the whole time, suspicious of everyone - like I am?! Okay, I don't want to know who A is, exactly, but you see, my bestie and I are trying to figure out if it will be a mystery the whole time or if they will eventually reveal it and then what from there? How long can A go on like this before someone identifies him or her? 

Just a hint? Pleeeeaaasseee!

In other book news...

If you haven't read it already, the synopsis for Beautiful Chaos has been revealed - read it here! The title for the sequel to the aforementioned Firelight, is Vanish, and the cover is HOT! I love the hint of scales in each cover!

Also, Sirensong is the third book in the Faeriewalker series by Jenna Black.

I don't love this cover like I did the first two. She's blah, the petals are blah. I feel blah about it. I haven't read this series yet but I do buy them for future reading!

Mini-Post Shout Out!!!

Hey Everyone!

I don't have much to share today but it is my daddy's birthday and he does stop by the ol' blog once in a while so if you're reading this HAPPY BIRTHDAY DADDY!!!

While visiting my special someone, we took a trip to Borders and I left with the following books in hand: Darkest Mercy (Wicked Lovely #5) by Melissa Marr, Firelight by Sophie Jordan and To Die For by Christopher Pike. After we left Borders and went home, I logged onto Borders.com to order Red Riding Hood by Sarah Blakley-Cartwright (because I forget to get it at the store) and Sticky Burr: Adventures in Burrwood Forest by Lohn Lechner for my daughter (because they did not have it in the store). I can't wait to add them to my overflowing bookcases! All the more reason to open the third one and put it together!

Sorry it's not much but I do have a great review coming in this week's

Mini-Post

Hey Everyone!

So here is a Mini-Post, which for me means telling you about random things that don't really fit together!

First, I'd like to share with you that I just painted my living room and I am in love with it! I went to Home Depot and picked out a can of paint that the more I looked at it, was too lilac-y. I was going for a soft blue. So I went back and the girl mixed it until I was happier with the color. With my chocolate, black and tan furniture, the blue is the perfect addition! Ok, so now that I've got that off my chest, some book news!

A great bloog I like to follow, That Bookish Girl, tells you "How to Build Your Library on a Budget". Different ways to the books you want to read, for a price you can afford!

I was on goodreads.com, my favorite site for all my book info, and came the title of the sequel to Matched by Ally Condie, Crossed. It did not have a cover or synopsis but the expected publish date is November 1, 2011! I also saw the cover for Thirst  No. 4 by Christopher Pike. Again, no synopsis but set to release August 9, 2011. And this time there's a guy sexy guy on the cover! He's most likely Matt from the previous book, whom I hope will be in the spotlight more this time around! Look:

Now, I think I might be little behind with this one but sometimes I have so many books and series that I'm into and want to get into, that I have to intentionally overlook things lest my dosage be increased because I'm so stressed out about how many books I still have to read!! Whew! Anywho.

Bloodlines by Richelle Mead, the first of its sequel, due to release August 23, 2011. For those of you not in know, like me, Bloodlines takes place in the same world as Vampire Academy. Sydney, the Alchemist, is the narrator and Jill, Moroi, plays a big role in the story as well. However, the male role in this book is a surprise but hint that it is a love interest from Vampire Academy! My guess? Adrian. If not, some other love interest I've long forgotten. Oh well, it'll be that much more of a surprise!

Last but not least, of this not-so-mini Mini-Post:

I watched the series premiere of Being Human on the SyFy Channel, Monday @ 9:00EST. It's about a vampire - trying to be on his best behavior, it seems, a werewolf - still coming to turns with his wolfy-ness and a ghost girl - trying to get over being dead. They all live together and as the title implies, I guess they're going to act as though things are as normal as possible. But I get the very strong feeling that there will be nothing normal about what happens to them! I laughed, I cried...I didn't cry. I did enjoy it though. Despite all the conflicts I had trying to record a new show on a Monday night, I will still try to keep up with show weekly.

Blog Re-Design Mini-Post

So, whaddya think? It's not the design I truly want, the one stewing in my head just dying to debut, but I don't have the skill to do it myself or the bucks to pay someone else! But when I came across this picture, I really liked it! I love modern furniture, the colors and the simplicity. I also created a button to go with the new look. I'm not giving up on my vision, just gotta find a way to make it happen!

While I have your attention, did you happen to catch the series premier of The Cape on Sunday night (1/9/11) on NBC? I did, and I'm not sorry about it either. It wasn't terrible and I think it might have some potential. It was only a little cheesy but when a funny moment came, I laughed out loud. Maybe that's just me. Vince Faraday is The Cape. He's sort of like Batman because he doesn't have any supernatural powers, but he uses his cape as a weapon, a shield and to do magic tricks to disappear! It comes back Monday night (1/17/11), NBC at 9pm Eastern Time. Give it a try! But be forewarned! It may cause conflicts with other great shows like Pretty Little Liars, House, Bad Girls Club or a special episode of Jersey Shore!

You may or may not have noticed that my Blogoversary is coming in 50 days or so. I'd love to do an amazing giveaway but I honestly don't know if that will be possible. I might just do a really great post! If you have any suggestions on what you would like me post about, leave a comment below with your ideas!
