Feature & Follow Friday

This is my first Feature & Follow Friday! I hope you enjoy it!

Have you ever looked at a book's cover and thought, This is going to be horrible! but was instead pleasantly surprised?  Show us the cover and tell us about the book.

It was really hard for me to find a book with a cover that I didn't love because I am guilty of judging books by their covers. I don't usually even pick up a book if I don't love the cover. This book was actually sent to me by the author to review and it turned out to be a great coming of age story. This is usually not my cup of tea - which is why I chose this cover - because I always go for the book with at least one supernatural being of some kind. However, I was pleasantly surprised with this book and if I remember correctly, there was even a moment when I cried a little. Although the situations are not the same it was a great self-reflection, coming-of-age story!

What's yours?

Book Blogger Hop #11

I'm really glad to be doing the Book Blogger Hop this week, hosted by none other than Jennifer at Crazy-for-Books. She is kind enough to continue this hop, and for that I am thankful!

So this week's question is a non-book-related!

DO YOU HAVE ANY PETS?
My answer: No I do not. I love animals but what I don't love is the maintenance they require. I don't do litter boxes and I'm not walking the dog at 8am in the winter time. Some might say to train it to go in the house. To me, that's the same as having a cat. Yuck. Either way, a mess is a mess is a mess - and I ain't cleaning it! I would love to pet your pets though!

Book Blogger Hop #10

In the spirit of the Twitter Friday Follow, the Book Blogger Hop is a place just for book bloggers and readers to connect and find new book-related blogs that we may be missing out on! This weekly BOOK PARTY is an awesome opportunity for book bloggers to connect with other book lovers, make new friends, support each other, and generally just share our love of books! It will also give blog readers a chance to find other book blogs they  never knew existed!

Each week, participating blogs are asked questions to post and answer on their websites.

This week's question

"How many books are currently in your To-Be-Read (TBR) Pile?"

My Answer: Without actually sitting here and counting them, I'd say my TBR pile is about 100 books. That won't stop me from adding to it though! I think having a large unread pile is fun because it gives me a ton of options for my next read.

How big is your pile?

Blog Hop #9

Happy Memorial Day Weekend Everyone! I hope you guys have great plans for this long weekend. I don't and that's just the way I want it. Besides, it will give me plenty of time to hop around!

This week's question

"What book-to-movie adaption have you most liked?  Which have you disliked?"

My Answer:  I haven't seen too many book-to-movie adaptations, however I Am Number Four was a great movie (film review, book review). It wasn't exactly like the book but I did not leave that theater disappointed. The adaptation I disliked? Twilight. The movie made the story appear cheesy and insignificant when in fact their relationship was much more profound (book review). The movie just didn't give you the depth of what was going on between them and then when New Moon was released and Bella was so distraught, those who hadn't read the books, couldn't understand. They couldn't know the pain, the hole in her chest getting worse and worse. So thumbs down to the movie.

This week's question

"If you were given the chance to spend one day in a fictional world (from a book), which book would it be from and what would that place be?"

My Answer: I hope the title of my blog is an indication of how much I love the fictional worlds books allow us to escape in. My favorite, which was very hard to pick, I think I'd have to go with the Sookie Stackhouse series. It's the only world where supes are walking around you in everyday life. It would be cool to be one of them but if I couldn't be, at least my best friend might be one!

Book Blogger Hop #7

I haven't done the Blog Hop in a while so I'm glad to finally join in this week!

This week's question

"Are you going to Book Expo America (BEA) and/or the Book Blogger Convention (BBC) this year?"
My Answer: I really wanted to attend the BEA this year but I couldn't seem to figure out what exactly it is, what and who will be there. Is it free for bloggers to go? There were just too many questions so I figured I'd skip it this year, do my research and hope to attend next year. It's also hard to get a sitter during the week. But I hope everyone attending has a great time!

This week's question

"If you could physically put yourself into a book or series…which one would it be and why?"

My Answer: I would have to go with the Sookie Stackhouse or True Blood series. Even though it can be dangerous from time to time, the world knows of the existence of vampires and supernaturals and I think it would be cool to live among the creatures we read about so much.

I've said it before and I'm happy to say it again, if you haven't read these books and/or you are not watching the show on HBO, what...what are you doing with yourself? Seriously.

This week's question

"If I gave you £50 (or $80) and sent you into a bookshop right now, what would be in your basket when you finally staggered to the till?"

My Answer: I have to be honest, I've pretty much caught up on every book that's has already been released that I wanted. So to answer this question, I'll tell you what books I would buy if they were on the shelves!

Crossed (Matched, #2) by Allie Condie
Forever (Wolves of Mercy Falls, #3) by Maggie Stiefvater

Beautiful Chaos (Caster Chronicles, #3) by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl

"What book(s) would you like to see
turned into a movie?"

(I really like this question because I just saw I Am Number Four tonight in theaters and I was very happy! My review will post tomorrow.)

My answer: Bleeding Violet by Dia Reeves. Hands down. With a character like Hanna, I need to see her on screen. I need to see this place they live in. I don't think my imagination is doing it justice!

Blog Hop #2 - January 14

This week's question

"Why do you read the genre that you do?
What draws you to it?"

I like to read young adult simply because I love everything about it. I love the stories these amazing authors come up with. The creatures the create, the different personalities, the different adventures they embark on. This genre (like many others) requires a great imagination, it gives the mind good exercise! I love the cover designs for this genre, too. They are literally works of art. And on top of all that, I love that some of my favorite titles are becoming movies! Ooh, and I love the way they all look on my bookcases! It's very satisfying! I don't think there is one thing I don't love about YA!!!

Thank guys!

Book Blogger Hop - January 7

Hey Everyone! Welcome to my first Book Blogger Hop!

It will also give blog readers a chance to find other book blogs that they may not know existed!

Each week, participating blogs are asked questions to post and answer on their websites.

This weeks question

What book influenced or changed your life?  How did it influence/change you?
Well, the book that I picked will probably shock you - but let me explain! The most recent book that has influenced my life is...Twilight. I promise it is not for the reason you're thinking! Yes, the vampires are awesome, as well as the werewolves, but that wasn't what influenced me. When I read the Twilight Saga last year (I think), it jump started my love of reading all over again. It had been years since I had really sat and read a book, but once I finished Twilight, I was itching for my next read! From that point on, I was always on the lookout for the next hot book or the newest debut author. That was when I decided to join the Blogosphere! So how did Twilight influence my life? It brought me here!

Thank guys!
